ONE - KEEP IT SIMPLE SIMON

  In the first instalment of TOAST THE HOST: HOW TO ENTERTAIN AT HOME, host with the most SIMON JAMES BAILEY shows how easy it is to host a simple ‘blush and bashful’ themed lunch with two lovely friends. In this episode we learn how to menu plan, save time shopping, pre-prepare food and drinks, arrange flowers for a simple table setting and entertain guests in the garden while serving a home-cooked meal. The menu includes homemade beetroot hummus, pasta carbonara, mini pavlovas and refreshing raspberry lemonade.

TWO - CHAMPERS & NIBBLY THINGS

  Hosting a celebration at home is easy if you are prepared. In episode two of TOAST THE HOST: HOW TO ENTERTAIN AT HOME, party guru SIMON JAMES BAILEY hosts a poolside engagement party with an 80’s white theme for his best friends Sarah & Bianca. Simon shares how to plan a party menu on a budget, when and how to invite guests, creating a sexy and functional party space, and saving time and money setting up a self-service bar and of course, preparing and serving delicious canapes and a nibbles party platter.

When it’s the morning after the night before, you need good company, sugar and carbs. Episode two is all about easy entertaining with the ones you love. Home cook and bestie SIMON JAMES BAILEY serves up some laughs, easy to bake egg & bacon tarts, 'restaurant quality' banoffee pancakes and raspberry mimosas. BTW, raspberry is the new orange.

FOUR - KITCHEN SUPPER

  Breaking up the working week hosting a dinner with friends is a lovely way to bring the weekend closer. Episode Four is dedicated to the mid-week dinner, a casual affair that requires a little effort, that generates a lot of love. The menu is inspired by the Nancy Meyers film ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ and mid-week host SIMON JAMES BAILEY serves up his favourite roast chicken with orange and thyme stuffing and his take on English bread sauce, and the most delicious cheater’s chocolate cake that has a secret ingredient that is a moisture maker. Simon shares easy tips and tricks to be prepared to intimately entertain friends and create a welcoming environment for everyone to destress and face the remainder of the working week with a smile. This episode builds on the skills and timing you'll need to host a formal dinner party.

FIVE - BOOZY BOOK CLUB

  Whether you’re bringing friends together for a book club or you just need some down time and a debrief in good company, afternoon tea is a lovely way to spend the latter part of the day (especially if the tea is from Long Island.) Bookworm and mixologist SIMON JAMES BAILEY shows how easy and affordable it is to use left over roast chicken to create delicious mini chicken pot pies, remnants of cheater’s chocolate cake become chocolate truffles, and he shares his absolute favourite sandwich recipe.

SIX - COMFORT DINNER

  When the weather is cold, you and your chosen family need some lovin' from the oven. SIMON JAMES BAILEY jumps out of his jammies and into the kitchen to whip up an easy-peasy pea & herb soup with a side of croque monsieur, 6-hour slow roasted lamb with butter bean puree and an apple & blackberry bake that has a special place in his heart. This episode is the dress rehearsal for the formal dinner party.

SEVEN - THE DINNER PARTY PART 1

Preparation is the key to hosting a successful dinner party and there is no place like home to hone your event planning skills. In the lead up to the season finale, a five-course formal dinner party, host with the most SIMON JAMES BAILEY takes you on his journey to curate the perfect evening with beloved friends. It all starts with the perfect menu, devising your action plan, and a step-by-step guide to prepare prawn & cured beetroot salad with a spicy mayonnaise, mint & green tea and coconut sorbet, beef fillet with red wine jus, chocolate pots with raspberry coulis and cheese to finish. In this episode you’ll rediscover the joy of cooking and creating a memorable occasion with your fabulous friends.

EIGHT - THE DINNER PARTY PART 2

 The entire season of the TOAST THE HOST is leading up to this moment – the formal five-course dinner party for five wonderful friends. The Dinner Party is the culmination of all the techniques, tricks, tips, recipes and fun of hosting seven occasions at home. In the season finale, host SIMON JAMES BAILEY puts the finishing touches on the event, including prepping all the food ready for service, creating a magical table setting and sharing insights to keep conversation flowing while his lovely friends enjoy a delicious five-course meal.
